USING A SHOULDER QUIVER

There is a knack in replacing arrows into a shoulder quiver, which makes you look very professional once you've got it.

If you are right-handed, the quiver should be worn with the arrows jutting over your right shoulder. Hold the arrow by the nock between your right thumb and forefinger, and with your arm straight in front of you drop the point of the arrow onto your shoulder.

Now lift your arm straight up without bending your elbow. When your arm is vertical the point of the arrow will be over the opening of the quiver, and if you now bend your elbow the arrow will drop straight in. If you bend your elbow before raising your arm vertically the arrow will miss the opening and drop on the ground.

Of course, you can always look over your shoulder as you put the arrows in, but it shows that you know what you are about if you can put your arrows back in without looking!
